The effect of alloying bath additives on the corrosion resistance of zinc coatings obtained on reinforcing steel

摘要
The article presents the results of research determining the effect of the bismuth and tin addition to the zinc bath on the corrosion resistance of coatings obtained on reinforcing steel. Coatings for research were made on B500SP steel in a zinc bath containing AlBi and AlBiSn additions. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was compared with the corrosion resistance of the coating obtained in the Zn-Al bath. The microstructure was revealed as well as the thickness of the coatings was determined. The corrosion resistance of the coatings was determined comparatively in a standard corrosion test in neutral salt spray. The tests in the salt chamber were carried out in accordance with the PN-EN ISO 9227 standard. It was found that the addition of bismuth and BiSn decrease the corrosion resistance of coatings on B500SP reinforcing steel.
