Where should we go tomorrow? The Internet and what we can do with it

The words Internet, E-mail and World Wide Web often spread fear and anxiety into the minds and souls of essentially 'technophobic' health practitioners. This vast worldwide network of computers, initially established as a link between a US Defense Department computer network and other radio and satellite networks, has developed into a worldwide source of essentially 'free' information and resources. Why go to a library to find an elusive article in a long lost journal, wading through the endless paper trails, when you can sit at your desk and perform and download a comprehensive Medline search right down the telephone line? People will say that we're getting lazy, but aren't we just becoming more productive and time efficient? The Internet links the world to a vast array of information and resources - we, as forward thinking health professionals, shouldn't miss that very fast moving train.
