Agroecological Territorial System (SiTA): a theoretical-methodological proposal for the construction and analysis of agroecology

Agroecology establishes itself as a fundamental alternative to recreate peasant agriculture. Its implementation is possible only when a set of actors - peasants, institutions, social movements, consumers, among others - articulate their actions in order to constitute the Agroecological Territorial System (also known in Portuguese as SiTA). Therefore, this paper presents a theoretical-methodological proposal for the analysis of Agroecology considering its multidimensionality, as well as the scalarities and temporalities of territorial arrangements composed by members of agroecological systems. As an analytical tool, SiTA aims to enhance the understanding about the development of territorial processes unleashed by Agroecology, while at the same time intends to contribute to the consolidation of agroecological practices in the contemporary agricultural space.
