摘要
During recent years, LEDs are introduced in road lighting at a high pace, especially in China. However there is a rising concern about discomfort glare caused by LED road luminaires to the road users, namely drivers and pedestrians. In this paper, the effect of the luminaire beam shape on discomfort glare is investigated. The intensity at a high beam angle may contribute to adaptation at a higher illumination level, and hence, to reduce glare. Besides, the beam shape of the luminaire needs to be carefully chosen, especially for the beam incident angle at 20 degrees to the line of sight.
