摘要:
A recent development in drying technology is the Gas Heated Paper Dryer, which is a gas-heated drying cylinder capable of attaining surface temperatures up to 800 degreesC. Using a laboratory. drying simulator this study compares the drying rates and product quality effects for various grades at conventional and elevated drying temperatures. High drying surface temperatures resulted in large improvements in drying rates for all grades, and no product quality effects for linerboard or fine paper. There were indications that under certain conditions, high drying-surface temperature may lend to improvements in corrugating medium compression strength. However, high drying surface temperatures especially early on in the drying process had a slight negative effect on the optical properties of newsprint. The strength properties of newsprint were not affected.
