Infrared signature of charge disproportionation in BaBiO3 and related compounds

摘要
The infrared phonon spectrum of BaBiO3 is compared with that of the double perovskite Ba2Yb3+Bi5+O6. Th, spectra of both compounds have the same trend and it is shown that charge disproportionation plays a major role in their dielectric response. The disproportionation of Bi into Bi3+ and Bi5+ in BaBiO3 (which can be written as Ba2Bi3+Bi5+O6) is confirmed.
