Public transportation priority systems combined with multiple traffic control strategies

摘要
The more people utilize their cars due to their trips, the worse the traffic conjunction is. So, the passengers on basses decrease. It results in the more use of cars. Therefore, it leads to the pollution of the various environment. With a respect of reduction of traffic demands and the improvement of the environment, the Kanagawa Prefectual Police HQ developed a Public Transportation Priority Systems (PTPS) with a combination of some signal control methods. PTPS constitute a subsystem of the Universal Traffic Management Systems 21 (UTMS 21) concept that is promoted by the National Police Agency (NPA). This paper mentions to the background of the PTPS in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Pref, illustrates the functions of the PTPS and refers to the effects of the system.
