Theoretical constraints on the neutrino magnetic moment from the white dwarf cooling

摘要
The evolution of young and hot white dwarfs (WDs) is largely dominated by the neutrino energy losses. Thus these stars provide a natural laboratory for testing the theoretical efficiency of the neutrino production processes, standard and not-standard. The present work is focussed on the not-standard energy losses due to a not-zero neutrino magnetic moment. By relying on very recent WD models we find an upper limit for the neutrino magnetic moment of approximate to 5.10(-12) mu(B).
