Effect of alkyl substituents on the acid-base properties of calix[4]resorcinolarenes and their dialkylaminomethyl derivatives

摘要：
The effect of alkyl substituents on the acid-base properties of calix[4]resorcinolarenes and their dialkylamino derivatives was studied. Increase in the hydrophobicity of calix[4]resorcinolarenes exerts the strongest effect on the dissociation in aqueous-THF (70 vol%) medium of the first phenol proton and of the monoprotonated form of the dimethylamino derivatives. The dissociation of the title compounds in alkaline medium yields a dimer whose stability is independent on the hydrocarbon chain length in the calix[4]arene.
