Livestock producers and their health organisations - training livestock producers

The paper gives a description of the activities of livestock producers' organisations active in animal health, animal identification and registration, and in product quality control and management. With a history of up to 100 years, the original efforts centred around activities to increase herd productivity and to eliminate breeding diseases. In recent years, activities also include animal identification and registration, product hygiene and quality management and control. A sensitive tripartite arrangement between the producer organisations, the Government and the private veterinarians is necessary for maximum benefits to producers. In situations where this arrangement is functioning well, all the partners have benefits.
