Effect of cryo-surgery on serum levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in patients with basal-cell cancer

摘要：
A reduction in metastasis and an increase in serum levels of IL-beta, IL-6 and TNF-alpha after cryo-surgery has been reported in animal models. Both events might be playing an important role in the primary and secondary tumor-inhibition mechanisms. The objetive is the effect of cryo-surgery on serum levels of IL-1beta, IL-6 and TNF-alpha in patients with basal-cell cancer (BCC). In 67% of cryo-surgery-treated patients, serum levels of TNF-a rose significantly at 24h. However, serum levels of IL-1beta and IL-6 remained unchanged. These findings are interesting, given that a rise in the serum levels of TNF-alpha was observed, which might be involved in the organism's protection against the establishment of metastasis; however, this results are not conclusive since further in-depth research is required in relation to the cytotoxicity of NK cells and CD8+ lymphocytes.
