摘要
The current specification of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials do es not specify any analysis method for the base plate design of span-wire-traffic-signal-poles. A simplified analysis method is developed here using finite element analysis for 28 signal poles, with calibration of the models by full-scale load testing. This method decomposes the base plate into three elementary components corresponding to respective critical regions of stress concentration. It is consistent with the allowable stress design concept of the current design code.
