In this interview philosopher Jacques RanciSre looks again at his earlier work on cinema. The interview opens with some remarks on the meaning of cinephilia before moving on to a detailed discussion of the process of aesthetic and political transformation he calls 'de-figuration', a process which is central to his work on art and aesthetics. Later in the interview RanciSre re-engages with films by directors Jean-Luc Godard and Chris Marker in the light of his more recent work on emancipated spectatorship.
