Grid Technology with Application to Virtual Library in Digital Library Construction in the Internet Era

The development of the network technology gives an impetus to the traditional library evolution. Virtual library is the expansion of the traditional library using network technology, which is especially valuable and significant in the process of constructing digital library. This paper discussed virtual library technology and Grid technology and their characters; compared traditional libraries with virtual libraries based on Grid technology; proposed a system design and implementation framework. Finally, gives the conclusion that virtual library based on the Grid technology in our framework would bring more convenience and all-sided services for readers.
