A Novel Mobile Data Collection Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

摘要
Most networks utilize static sink to collect data from a monitored region, which may lead to high traffic load in the vicinity of the static sink. To address this concern, we propose a novel mobile data collection algorithm (MDCA). Two sinks are employed in this strategy: one is a static sink that acts as a gateway to the network, and the other is a mobile sink that serves as a mobile data collector for the network. Our rule has following innovative advantages: First, the node decides whether to update its routing information depending on the optimal route degree. This optimal degree criterion considers both the route overhead and the node's residual energy. Thus, the MDCA can keep key nodes from being overused, which will eventually lead to the premature rupture of the network. Second, the MDCA adopts the rule of data interception. This rule can reduce the data packet's transmission distance, thus improving the security of data packet. Finally, the MDCA adopts a congestion self-adaptive strategy. This rule can quickly restore the congestion route in the local of congestion node, cutting the communication delay. Comparison with other state-of-the-art algorithms shows that the proposed algorithm improves the performance of network significantly.
