Computational studies of a confined turbulent jet impingement flow have been performed using a commercial CFD software - FIDAP. The computation is divided into two parts: (i) a fully developed pipe flow at Re-D = 70,000 and (ii) a consequent jet impingement now. For both the pipe now and jet impingement now, the standard K - epsilon turbulence model has been implemented. The fully developed pipe now computation is used to validate the CFD code and to provide the inlet condition of the jet impingement now. Predicted values of skin friction coefficient C-f and Nusselt number Nu(H) are within 2.09% and 1.35%, respectively, of the theoretical results. The now issuing from the pipe impinges normal to a flat plate located at 6 pipe diameters away. Results of the jet impingement now computation are analyzed by examining velocity vector, contours and profiles of now variables and turbulent quantities.
