摘要
In 2000 the United Nations adopted eight Millennium Development Goals for the international community to reach by the end of 2015. To continue the global development agenda 17 Sustainable Development Goals are drafted to be valid until 2030. The final version of the new development goals is planned to be adopted in September 2015. The aim of this paper is to compare these two sets of objectives in general and also based on the method of SMART goals. The result of the comparison is the finding that Sustainable Development Goals are an enhanced version of the Millennium Development Goals, even though in their conception the experts managed to remove some of the shortcomings, that have been criticized in the previous set of goals valid until the end of 2015.
