摘要
Traditionally, medical information systems have been proprietary to certain institutions, without envisioning any kind of interoperability among them. This has had a negative impact on the quality of medical services. The introduction of the HL7 standard version 3, helps in defining a better approach to the interoperability issue. However, the usage of the HL7 standard is limited and misunderstood, while the traditional proprietaty applications still dominate the medical world. This paper proposes an architecture based on multiagent systems and semantic web that addresses the interoperability problem of the interactions between the stakeholders of the medical domain, with the aim of improving the medical services. The authors highlight the current research and its limitations, propose a new approach to the interoperability issue and present the major hurdles their approach needs to overcome.
