摘要
The Chinese language is the common language for ethnic Chinese all over the world. The study of variants of the Chinese language in different regions not only lays the foundation for understanding its situation, but is also an important way for knowing about the social changes and development of the Chinese communities. Focusing on the commonly used word gaibian "change", this article compared the similarities and differences of its collocates in the subject-predicate relation and the verb-object relation based on the large-scale data of Mainland China and Taiwan from The Tagged Chinese Gigaword Corpus. It also explored the common and specific concerns of the changes between the two sides from the beginning of the 1990s to the early 21st century. This study provides an important window for understanding the changes in Mainland China and Taiwan, which is conducive to further enriching the research achievements on the Chinese language and strengthening communication and exchange between Chinese communities.
