To assess the short-term outcome of open versus laparoscopic repair of perforated peptic ulcer 62 consecutive open-repair patients were retrospectively compared with a concurrent cohort of 17 diagnosis-matched laparoscopic-repair controls operated at the same hospital during a 6-year period. Laparoscopic repair was as good as open repair based on the evaluated parameters.
