摘要
The historical buildings and archeological sites of countries belong to the cultural heritage and need to be protected and preserved for next generations. The innovations and improvements in digital imaging sensors and scanners, surveying equipment, computer modeling, as well as the availability of many powerful graphics PCs and workstations make rendering methods for digital documentation with 3D modeling functionality feasible. Digital documentation methods of the historical buildings and archeological sites are an important tool for monitoring and conservation. Topographical documentation methods are well suited for such purposes. These methods include GPS and remote sensing techniques. 3D modeling and digital recording of historical buildings in several locations from Alba County was and still is conducted. These works showed the necessity of using data from different sources having a very large spatial extension like site. Aerial and space images can be used together to produce the digital elevation model (DEM) of the area. Local objects such as historical buildings should be modeled by advanced topographical and CAD methods.
