The neutron scattering platform of China Mianyang Research Reactor (CMRR) and recent applications

摘要
The 20-MW China Mianyang Research Reactor's (CMRR) neutron science platform has been in use since 2013. In the first phase, there are six scattering spectrometers and two neutron imaging devices. For neutron scattering experiments, the thermal and cold fluxes are measured to be 2.4x10(14) and 10(9) n cm(-2) s(-1), respectively. The neutron instruments used in the first phase include a high-resolution neutron diffractometer, residual stress neutron diffractometer, thermal neutron radiography station, high-pressure neutron diffractometer, small-angle neutron scattering, time-of-flight and polarized neutron reflectometer, cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer, and cold/thermal neutron radiography station. In addition, eight second-phase spectrometers are currently under construction and will be operational in the next two to five years. CMRR currently operates for more than 200 days a year, with more than 60% of the beam time supplied to users. This paper focuses on the neutron science platform of CMRR and its typical applications in the fields of soft matter, magnetic membrane materials, aviation, basic physics, etc.
