摘要
Major utilities around the world are increasingly seeking to improve upon the efficiency of the traditional power grid, to reduce generation and transmission costs, and to increase the penetration of renewable sources of power supply. An effective means of addressing these requirements is the deployment of smart grids to maximize system reliability, resiliency, stability and quality of supply. This paper presents a demand side management (DSM) and fault identification case study for a smart grid system with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) using internet of things (IoT) sensors, distributed generation from renewable sources: wind and solar, integrated EV chargers, and lithium ion based energy storage system (ESS). Data from a test station in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is presented and analyzed to evaluate the benefit obtained from energy management and from increased system visibility via IoT sensors.
