摘要
We will analyze so hermeneutics and temporal history of 19th and the early 20th century the deal and instruction and deaf and dumb children in Portugal, on the basis of documentary, institutions, periodicals and primary sources and secondary. Incising their analysis of the actions and speeches the teachers who promoted this special education and differentiated pedagogy, developing methods, the creation of lessons/classes, schools with the support of the Misericordia's, municipalities or philanthropists/benefactors. The study is structured in the following points: attention to the deaf and dumb and the blind, with the development of appropriate methods; Royal Institute of the Deaf and Dumb and blind and your teaching pedagogy; contributions from other institutions to the teaching of these collectives; methodologies of education and the main characteristics of these minors with disabilities learning. Many of these children and young deaf and dumb managed to learn a trade that allowed to enter in the labor market and in society of the time.
