Modal structure of the wavefield in a range-dependent Pekeris waveguide

摘要
Simple quasi-ray formulas for the modal structure of wavefields in a nonadiabatically range-dependent waveguide are obtained. The suggested approach consists in the decomposition of the geometrical optics solution to the Helmholtz equation into modes. The modes for a two-layer model of a shallow sea with a range-dependent bottom profile are calculated as an example. The results are compared with those obtained by the parabolic-equation approach.
