Major changes created by globalisation. have forced people and organisations to make a fundamental transition from routine (maintaining) mode of operation to systematic development (creative) mode of operation. This paper describes the results of the ongoing work in Finland aimed at developing a new engineering education solution for engineering education institutions. The work has been carried out as a combination of theoretical and experimental work. The resulting overall solution is based on using a sequence of real-world learning projects as the vehicle to achieve a continuous and effective learning process. The process starts with small-scale teaming projects dealing with the student's life and familiar engineering products and approaches real-time projects from the industry/society during the four- to five-year learning period. The process, including a new integrated evaluation system for the students, is optimised simultaneously on the learning project level and the process level by selecting, formulating and coordinating the themes and content of the learning projects.
