K2K KEK to Kamioka long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment

摘要
We have been constructing a long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment in which nu(mu) beam will be generated at KEK and detected by the Super-Kamiokande (SK) water Cerenkov detector 250 km away from KEK. We will have a front neutrino detector and various beam monitors in KEK in order to predict the nux of the neutrinos at SK as precisely as possible. We will look for the oscillation modes nu(mu) --> nu(e) appear ance and nu(mu) --> nu(x) disappearance. We can explore the oscillation parameter regions of Delta m(2) greater than or similar to 2 x 10(-3) eV(2) and sin(2) 2 theta greater than or similar to 0.5 for the disapearance and sin(2) 2 theta greater than or similar to 0.1 for the appearance modes, respectively. The experiment will start at beginning of 1999.
