A follicular thyroid carcinoma case applied with paraplegia: Differential diagnosis

Follicular thyroid carcinoma, included in the group of well-differentiated thyroid cancers, is a slow-growing tumor type with low metastatic potential. Distant metastases are present in 10-50% of newly diagnosed patients and distant spread may occur commonly to lung, bone, liver, kidney and breast via blood circulation. Spinal cord compression syndrome, as a late stage finding of disease and rare complication of thyroid carcinoma is very uncommon as an initial finding. Therefore, we reported a case of thyroid carcinoma presenting with paraplegia.
