Experimental study on dry ED-Milling using taguchi method

摘要
Experimental research on electrical discharge machining milling in gas (dry ED-Milling) using taguchi method was carried out and experimental results were analyzed to understand the influencing order of machining parameters on the material remove rate (MRR) and the surface roughness value. Machining parameters involved in this study include spindle servo system parameters, ED-Milling parameters, and electrical parameters. The research results indicate that the spindle servo speed is the most significant influencing factor on the MRR, the tool trace overlap ratio and the laminated depth proves to be the secondary influcencing factor, and then the electrical parameters comes thirdly. Among the machining parameters, the pulse duration and the peak current are the leading influencing factors on the surface roughness value.
