摘要
So we're rolling along, I'm sitting next to the window, and suddenly the train stops at some station; I look out and-son of a gun!—the sign says "Chattanooga"! I jump out onto the platform, there's a Negro standing there selling some kind of nuts, and I ask him, "Is this Chattanooga?" "Yes, sir," he says. I say, "Is this some kind of a joke?" "No, sir," he says and shoves the nuts in my face. And as I'm standing and looking at the sign, suddenly everything comes back to me… By the way, the song had nothing to do with it. In the song some black woman asks a couple of guys, "Is that the Chattanooga choo-choo?" And that's all! A typical railroad theme. © 1998, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
