Analysis and Assessment of E-Waste Management Policy in China

Since 2001, the National Development and Reform Commission commenced the legislation on E-waste recycling and disposal in China. By 2011, the formal implementation of administrative regulations of "Regulations on the Management of the Recovery and Treatment of Waste Electronic and Electrical Products" at national level indicates that China has basically completed the construction of E-waste management policy system. This paper will adopt the method of the general model of environmental policy analysis, to analyze the e-waste management policy in China, assess the implementation effect in the aspect of collection system construction, collection rate and industrial development and finally put forward policy suggestions, such as to set up of coordination and communication mechanism among e-waste management related departments, speed up the amendments of regulation or policy documents, carry out the research on the e-waste facilities planning cooperating with the revision of the e-waste management directory, etc.
