Properties of heat flow in the JxB gas arc discharge for the production of fullerenes

摘要
Heat flow of the JxB gas arc discharge in helium gas is investigated as this discharge has been developed for the efficient production of fullerenes and the control of hot-gas reaction is an important theme. Heat flux around the arc as functions of position, magnetic field and discharge parameters is measured by means of a water-cooled calorimetric probe. As a result, the heat flux from the arc concentrates to the JxB direction and it is strongly increased by the magnetic field. Also, the heat flux increases by increasing gas pressure and gap distance.
