摘要
This paper presents preliminary estimates of energy consumption and production and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Mongolia and describes the potential for greenhouse gas abatement. A Base Case scenario assumes that the energy system will continue to be developed along the same lines as the current system, with few energy conservation measures introduced and based largely on coal-fired cogeneration systems. In a Mitigation scenario, we explore the role that more efficient and less carbon-intensive technologies could play in mitigating GHG emissions in Mongolia. Compared to the Base Case scenario, CO2 emissions would decrease by approximately 14% in 2010 and 19% in 2020. Emissions of CO, NOx, and SOx also decrease in the Mitigation scenario.
