Economic Geology Research and Teaching in Asia - What is needed? What can we do?

Asia is the powerhouse driving the vibrant economic conditions now enjoyed in many parts of the world, and demand for resources from the region is the key factor in the current health of the global mining industry. Asia has a large share of the world's geoscientific population, but they are mostly not engaged with geoscientists in the rest of the world. There are major problems in training, access to international literature, opportunities for mine visits, and in publication of research results and deposit descriptions. It is important that geoscientists in this region be encouraged to participate in the global geoscientific community. There are many ways that societies, companies, universities and individuals can encourage this.
