On-demand applications development based on service oriented architecture over ASP platforms

摘要
Software-as-a-Service and on-demand computing are changing the way enterprises pay for and use information systems. With the rapid development and successful implementations of the Web Services and Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), Application Service Providers (ASPs) have again become the focus of researches. This paper describes the design and implementation of the ASP-STML system. It provides a comprehensive solution to the development of on-demand applications over an ASP platform, in which software systems are made available, to its individual users on an as-needed basis. In the paper, we first analyze and point out the limitations of current on-demand customization approaches in ASP platforms, then propose a framework for a SOA-based approach to on-demand applications development in an ASP platform, next present a series of ASP services and an XML-based service template mark-up language, finally conclude by an example showing the practicability of the ASP-STML system.
