The Corporate Governance Role of the Media: A General Research Framework

摘要
Recent examples of corporate fraud have prompted scholars to look for new insights into corporate governance. The Article pursues the familiar theme but focuses on an area that has heretofore escaped close attention from researchers: the media coverage. The media maybe make many important contributions to our system of corporate governance. This article illustrates the ways that the media coverage is put to use by the various mechanisms that comprise the corporate governance system and explains several distinct roles played by the media. The Article concludes with indicating some of the shortcomings of the media and identifies directions for future research.
