摘要
Canada's principal contribution to the International Space Station, the Mobile Servicing System (MSS), will play a critical role in the on-orbit assembly, external maintenance and operations of the station. The main elements of the MSS are the Mobile Base System (MBS), the Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS), and the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM). This paper first presents an overview and current status of the MSS before describing in some detail the SPDM design, functionality and operation for the ISS. Highlighted are the features and capabilities of the SPDM which make it an advanced space robotic system.
