Experimental shortening of the radius in the process of treating Kienbock's disease

The aim of the research was to determine the smallest loading on the Innate bone obtained by gradually shortening of the radius. Transmission of the force from the distal part of the radius and the ulna onto the Innate bone by use of anatomic specimens of an intact wrist and some of its surgical adjustments by the gradual shortening of the radius. The research was conducted on anatomic preparations of 20 upper extremities using only the distal part of the forearm and hand, putting them in exactly defined position. In the open radio carpal joint a Fuji. prescale film was inserted to detect pressure after axially compressive by changing the lenght of forearm in four stages. The pressure distribution in the distal radio carpal joint and shortening of the radius is vital for healing and relieving the pressure on the Innate bone. Which type of surgical treatment is to be performed depends on the condition. of the lunate bone and on the variation of the radius.
