摘要
The flow of blood through a non-symmetrical stenosed artery has been investigated. Blood is treated as a non-Newtonian K-L (Kuang and Luo) model, with no-slip condition at the wall of the artery. The expression for the flow parameters such as flow rate, wall shear stress and resistance to blood flow have been derived numerically by using Gauss-Quadrature two point formula. The effects of various parameters on stenosis size, flow rate, wall shear stress and resistance to blood flow have been discussed through graphs. The nature of variation in blood flow rate is similar in case of other models like Hershel-Bulkley model and Casson model. The effects of stenosis on the skin friction and on the resistance to blood flow are discussed. Also the effects of non-Newtonian blood behavior on skin friction and on resistance to blood flow are discussed through graphs. The most important parameters in K-L model are the plasma viscosity and yield stress. When we vary these parameters, the flow characteristics (flow rate, skin friction and resistance to blood flow) change significantly or vaguely. The results have been compared with other theoretical models which have been studied earlier. (C) 2017 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
