摘要：

The aim of the article is to analyze the discussion of man's relation to animals in the publications of Polish Catholic thinkers of the first half of the twentieth century. At that time, a significant change took place in the relationship of man to other living beings, which had its sources in contemporary cultural and philosophical trends. An important goal of those publications was to counter the increasingly popular view that Christianity and the teaching of the Church were the cause of ill-treatment of animals. Catholic thinkers focused their analysis on several issues. They pointed to saints who had been sensitive to the well-being of animals, stigmatized cruelty and showed the Church's commitment to improving animal welfare.
