Image Resolution Enhancement using Discrete Curvelet Transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform

摘要
Image resolution is an essential parameter to enhance the quality of an image. Even though, many techniques are used to enhance image resolution, multiscale transforms are more effective due to its efficiency in reconstruction of images. Curvelet transform is a multiscale directional transform with the property to deal with the discontinuity along with the curves i.e. edges. Proposed method is based on discrete curvelet transform (DCT) with wrapping methodology and interpolated high frequency sub bands of discrete wavelet transform (DWT). On the low resolution input image, DCT is applied and obtained coefficients are interpolated. Simultaneously, DWT along with interpolation has been applied on low resolution image and evaluated coefficients of DWT are improved by stationary wavelet transform (SWT). Further, Interpolated coefficients of DCT are added with interpolated evaluated coefficients of DWT and SWT. Then, inverse DWI . is executed on the added coefficients to gain high resolution image. Thus, accessed parameter values of the image quality and visual representation gives a remarkable result of the introduced work compared to the other traditional wavelet transform and spatial domain interpolation.
