摘要
Gender discrimination leads to a very unequal distribution of opportunities, in the Latin American continent, where there are still deep gaps between the rights of men and women in the workplace. International rules and national laws proclaim equality and non-discrimination based on gender, but reality shows the persistence of limits for the effective enjoyment and exercise of these rights. Added to this is a patriarchal culture that continues to support macho approaches in the world of work, with projections in unions representations. The existence of very high percentages of single-parent families with a female head and the conditions of poverty contribute to the consolidation of a vicious circle, which reproduces the conditions of poverty/lack of training/precarious employments.
