AC conductivity and dielectric properties of MgO-Li2O-B2O3-As2O3 glasses

xMgO-(25-x)Li2O-50B(2)O(3)-25As(2)O(3)(where x= 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mol%) glasses were prepared by melt quenching. Impedance spectroscopy technique was employed on these samples and the data were analyzed using a Cole-Cole type impedance response function. The AC conductivity behaviour of the glasses was investigated in the frequency range 100 Hz to 1 MHz and as a function of temperature. The measured AC data were analyzed using the Jonscher's universal power law to explain the observed dispersive electrical conductivity behaviour. It was observed that the strength of the mixed mobile ion effect (MMIE) in AC conductivity became less pronounced with increasing temperature and frequency. The results were explained on the basis of a structural model.
