The role of Axis II comorbidity in the management of patients with treatment-resistant depression

摘要：
Many treatment-resistant depressed patients have features of one or more personality disorders. This article reviews the broader relationship between personality disorders and depression and discusses the pathways by which the former may reduce the probability of treatment response. Modifications in treatment planning are suggested, and psychotherapeutic strategies are recommended to facilitate the treatment of personality-disordered patients with refractory depressive states.
