The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), a vast country in Central Africa, held the second democratic elections in its history in late November 2011. The country's Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) declared incumbent leader President Joseph Kabila the winner of the election with a majority of the vote. The nation's Supreme Court confirmed his victory over the opposition, led by Etienne Tshisekedi.
