A technique for characterizing the liquidus and solidus surfaces in the T-x-y phase diagrams of ternary systems

摘要
The technique proposed in this work to characterize three-phase equilibria in ternary systems allows the equilibrium temperature to be measured with an accuracy comparable to the accuracy of vapor pressure studies and better than that of differential thermal analysis. As distinct from classical methods, this technique can be combined with various chemical and physical measurements to determine the compositions of the melt and the solid phase involved in the three-phase equilibrium. The proposed technique was used to map out phase diagrams of the Pb-Sn-Se and PbSe-PbS systems.
