The European ceramic tile industry and the new approach to environmental protection

摘要：
The evolution of the environmental impact control and management activities in the last years, in Europe, for the ceramic tile sector is reviewed. The environmental impacts from ceramic industries have been studied in Italy since the early '70. Facing a legislation based on the compliance with Environmental Quality Standards, in the '70-'80 the ceramic tile industry has developed very efficient pollution control techniques. Sustainable development and integrated pollution prevention and control are the keywords of a new approach to environmental protection, which includes also environmental certification. The European ceramic industry has assumed a leading role also in this new approach.
