Quantification of the Adhesive Impulse for the Extended Hard-Sphere Model

摘要
Modelling of collisions in a particle-fluid flows is a challenging task if phenomena like cohesion and adhesion are to be considered. In our previous pacers [1] and [2] we extended the well-known hard-sphere model to account for these phenomena. In this extended model we introduced adhesive/cohesive impulsive forces and we quantified these, but only in a preliminary manner. The objective of this paper is to quantify this interaction more precisely using the theory developed by Johnson, Kendall and Roberts (1971), known in literature as JKR-theory.
