The development of Gerontology in Mexico is incipient, and therefore there are not reliable reference values of biochemical and hematological tests for elderly people. In this study, it was determined: completed blood cell count, biochemical routine test, serum lipids, serum electrolytes, total serum proteins, albumin, total and conjugated bilirubin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and pseudocholinesterase (CHS) in two groups of 400 clinically healthy people of both sexes and low socio-economical level in Mexico City. One group included people older than 60 years olds, the other group included people ranging from 25 to 45 years old. The determination were made by manual standardized methods. The intervals were determined by median value and central 95th percentile with the Tukey test. The results of the red blood cell count for the senile group diminishes in the lower limits of the intervals and it became statistically significant (p < 0.05). Too, the intervals were high and became statistically significant (p < 0.05) in uric acid, cholesterol, cLDL, and triglycerides, and it was low in cHDL, total serum proteins, albumin, and serum phosphate. It can be concluded that in the senile Mexican population some results are affected by age, being different from the results published in the Anglo-Sawon literature.
