Analytical simulation of VOC transport in the vadose zone

摘要
VOCs from a source located near the ground surface can be transported through the vadose zone to the water table by desorption and advection with infiltrating rain water in the aqueous phase and by diffusion/votatilization in the gaseous phase. Analytical expressions are presented to develop pollutographs of VOCs reaching the water table in the aqueous and gaseous phases. The solutions include cases with continuous (unremediated) sources as also sources removed/remediated after a finite time with or without impervious pavements at the ground surface.
